Navigating Education Excellence is our work. Our combined experience has improved effectiveness and success for more than 50 education providers, pharmaceutical CME/IME teams, hospitals, academic centers, and associations. Aristotle said, “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore, is not an act, but a habit.” At AOE, excellence is more than a habit—it’s our business.

Accreditation Board Bulletin
ACCME: ACCME’s April 2015 Bridge to Quality workshop was held this past week in Chicago and featured a mixture of interactive sessions based on individual learning needs. This year, compared to years past, the agenda included more time for group discussion and less didactic plenary sessions. There were more vignettes, case studies, and examples presented throughout the workshop. The ACCME briefly discussed its current proposal for a menu of new criteria for Accreditation with Commendation, and while they hinted that these changes are very likely, no explicit timeframe was divulged. The next Bridge to Quality workshop will take place August 6-7th at the Westin Chicago River North.
ANCC: Are you interested in submitting an abstract for the 2016 Call for Abstracts at ANCC’s Pathway to Excellence Conference? The abstract submission process for next year’s conference opens July 2015. Abstracts are considered based on how well they fulfill the goal and the learning objectives of the conference.
The focus of this year’s conference, taking place this month, is to encourage nurses to lead cultural change needed to establish a constructive practice environment that sustains nursing excellence across multiple practice settings. ACPE: Do you have unanswered questions related to the ACPE? ACPE recently released two key documents that provide the profession with guidance and support for continuing pharmacy education and continuing professional development. There is a Definitions document available at: https://www.acpe-accredit.org/pdf/DefinitionContinuingEducationProfession%20Pharmacy2015.pdf, which offers detailed explanations of terminology and a Guidance on Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for the Profession of Pharmacy document which further outlines the types of learning activities that can contribute to the professional development of both pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, beyond CPE. Additionally, the Guidance document provides a process for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to meet and uphold defined competencies in areas applicable to their individual professional responsibilities. This Guidance document is available at: https://www.acpe-accredit.org/pdf/CPDGuidance%20ProfessionPharmacyJan2015.pdf.
