Accreditation Board Bulletin
ACCME
Building on successful collaboration from 2015, the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) and the ACCME announce the introduction of an improved web-based research tool called CME Finder. The tool is designed to assist health care professionals find accredited CME activities registered for Maintenance of Certification (MOC) credit that meet their educational needs. CME Finder data is derived from information that ACCME accredited organizations enter into the Program and Activity Reporting System (PARS). Activities are searchable and sortable by:
- Provider name
- Activity type
- Date
- Location
- Subspecialty
- MOC points
- CME credits available
- Fee for participation
- Whether registration is open or restricted to a specific group
ABIM and ACCME plan to recognize more accredited CME by Spring 2017. Access the CME Finder here.
ACPE
The ACPE is gearing up for its next ACPE Administrator Workshop, designed as a pre-conference before the Alliance for Continuing Education in the Health Professions 2017 Conference. It will be a 4-hour workshop on Thursday, January 26 at the San Francisco Marriott Marquis.
The ACPE has outlined the following learning objectives for the workshop:
- Apply the ACPE Standards for Continuing Pharmacy Education to case scenarios
- Describe the ACPE CPE accreditation policies and procedures
- Apply the principles of Continuing Professional Development to my own development as a CE professional
In addition to valuable networking opportunities, this workshop will provide a “working knowledge of the ACPE accreditation process as it relates to continuing pharmacy education, including training and group activities on the ACPE Standards for Continuing Pharmacy Education, Policies and Procedures, and Continuing Professional Development for the CE Professional.” (www.acpe-accredit.org)
For more information on the workshop, or to register, please visit the ACPE Workshop Registration page.
ANCC
The ANCC has recently announced an update approved by the Commission on Accreditation (COA) that allows those organizations Accredited with Distinction to utilize an accreditation statement that captures that designation. Effective immediately, those groups Accredited with Distinction should use the following statement:
“[insert name of organization] is accredited with distinction as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.”
As we head into 2017, the ANCC will also be launching two new resources for accredited providers:
- Real Magnet is an electronic communication platform. The ANCC Primary Accreditation Update will be emailed through Real Magnet, bi-monthly on the odd months.
- ACRRED Talk is a quick video that will include tips and tricks for activity planning and compliance adherence. This will be sent to accredited providers bi-monthly on the even months.
